It is not usual for lawyers to work as managers, information specialists or marketing experts. Still, every such expert needs current, exact and reliable data about Czech and European law. The aim of this presentation is firstly, to compare different relevant sources of information on the Internet and provide several models of its research for specific professional groups. Secondly, possibilities of access to information about creating of the Czech law regulations, their publication, interpretation and application by courts and other Czech institutions, will be displayed. The comparison of the above said with the situation in other EU Member States (Austria, Germany, Slovakia etc.) will be offered as well.
The author of the presentation has been working at the Faculty of Law in Brno since 1979, currently at the Institute of Law Theory. She has been interested in law information systems since 1992 and in 1994 she made a comparative analysis of Czech law information systems for the Czech Ministry of Economy. Some of her conclusions were published during the period 1995-2000, mostly in the CHIP magazine. Since 1997, she has been teaching law information systems at the Faculty of Law in Brno, as part of the Legal IT seminary. Future librarians and information administrators can attend this seminary at the Faculty of Philosophy also. Within her course of law information systems the author also participates on e-government specialization.
